QS MBA Tour In Singapore

When the world renowned QS MBA tour once again reached the shores of Singapore in November, ICON+ felt privileged to be part of such a large-scale event.  It was only after weeks of preparation that ICON+ was finally ready for the big day.

ICON+ is a leading GMAT test preparation specialist in Singapore. GMAT is a popular pre-requisite for admission to MBA courses, colleges and universities in the island republic. Apart from GMAT, the school also teaches other popular admissions courses like TOEFL, IELTS, GRE and SAT – both online and through its physical classes in Orchard and Raffles Place.

This year, the event was held at the Pan Pacific Hotel. Soon after ICON+ team members worked hand in hand and set up a complex and colorful booth, eager MBA candidates started arriving. As early as an hour before the official event opening, staff started giving out ICON+’s unique, yellow bags to attendees. Through their interactions, ICON+ team members found the majority of participants had yet to take the GMAT, an essential piece of the MBA application.
Fortunately, these students and even some who had already sat for the GMAT but felt they could have scored higher were keen to sign up for the free GMAT Trial Class to be conducted the following weekend. On the other hand, participants who had mastered the GMAT were more attracted to the free 30 minute MBA admission consultation offer. With so much interest, the ICON+ corner was so crowded that some QS attendees even thought it was the event registration booth.

In my years of teaching GMAT, I have seen only a few exceptional students use the self-study method successfully. (more…)

To Take Or Not To Take IELTS Preparation Course?

That’s the dilemma that used to deprive me not only of my inner peace during the day but also prevented me from sleeping a wink at night. And I really mean it. As a Singaporean, I considered myself to be pretty good at English and I was convinced that my current command of English should suffice for getting band 6.5 in Academic IELTS – the score I needed to become a freshman in one of the Australian colleges. Fortunately, a quick consultation with an IELTS Singapore specialist helped allay all those doubts. (more…)
